14 years ago, I started a matchmaking company...

Almost 20 years ago, I found myself [what felt like] suddenly divorced and starting over from scratch.

Being single again (and now with two toddlers) was scary. I met some nice guys who ended up being far from a good match, and had my fair share of creepers too. I was exhausted, doubting myself, and wondering if real love was even possible for me anymore. I started to feel like maybe I wasn’t “good enough” - maybe I wasn’t worthy of true love. Like maybe soulmates are myths. Like maybe I was just “supposed to” be alone. Or, worse yet, maybe I’d made a mistake and I should have just settled for a mediocre love-life - just so I wouldn’t have to be alone. 

I had no roadmap or instruction manual for how to "find" the right person, or how to create the relationship I truly wanted. 

I felt lost. I felt confused. I felt lonely.

And then one crisp Montana autumn day, on a drive to pick my girls up from their dad’s house, I discovered something that changed everything.


I’ll never forget that drive, complaining to my mom about being unhappy and alone, and she said this: (she's always been brilliant, BTW)

“Happiness is an inside job, Emily. You can’t rely on others to make you happy.”

 Those words were the words that lit something up inside me, and I started studying energy the second I got back home. Through the Law of Attraction (yes — that “Secret” book and movie you may have heard of), I decided to rewrite my story and step into the energy of the love I actually wanted and knew I deserved.

The truth is: love isn’t luck. It’s energy. And when I learned how to align my energy, re-frame my mindset, and tell myself new stories, everything shifted — and, within a few short months, I met the man I’ve now been happily married to for 17 years.
